Paulomi Modi

Director, Networking & Engagement

As a graduate student in Integrated Biomedical Sciences at UT Health San Antonio, Paulomi is passionate about advancing molecular medicine and finding innovative solutions for pediatric cancer. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Oncology and Cancer Biology under the supervision of Dr. Myron Ignatius at the Greehey Cancer Institute.

Her current research focuses on developing novel zebrafish models of rhabdomyosarcoma and osteosarcoma, and elucidating the role of Snai2 on mechanisms of growth and metastasis.

Besides her scientific endeavors, she is also interested in the business side of biotechnology. She recently joined an internship at the university's Office of Technology Commercialization, where she will evaluate the commercial potential of cutting-edge technologies at UT Health San Antonio. Additionally, she is actively involved with Enventure's San Antonio chapter, a nonprofit organization that connects life science professionals and entrepreneurs with the Texas biomedical industry. Through these activities, she aims to combine her research-savvy side with her entrepreneurial spirit and contribute to translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications.

Outside of lab she loves to cook, travel and train in mixed martial arts.
