Xinye is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical, Physical & Structural Biology at Baylor College of Medicine. Her research focuses on three different areas: 1) study the role of a novel ceramide synthase, TLCD3B, in retinal diseases 2) develop a high-throughput splicing assay for pathogenic deep-intronic variant screening 3) differentiate patient-derived iPSCs into retinal organoids and perform functional studies to investigate the underlying mechanisms of disease pathogenicity. In her free time, she enjoys reading, singing karaoke, and making origami and upcycled home decorations.
